Apple case highly commended by the EFMD Case Writing Competition

Recently EFMD has announced the winners of its annual Case Writing Awards. Professors from renowned business schools such as IMD, INSEAD, IESE and Bocconi are competing in this truly international competition. Vlerick professor Wouter De Maeseneire has received a highly commended mention in the category ‘Finance and Banking’ for the outstanding quality of his case study "Apple – Time to 'Think Different' ™". He developed the case together with Thomas Deschepper and Maxime Maertens, two Vlerick Masters in Financial Management alumni.

Wouter De Maeseneire is very pleased with this recognition and appreciation from the jury for his work, who considered it to be of outstanding quality amidst the many finance cases which are submitted every year. “Developing a case complemented by an extensive teaching note is challenging, intensive and time consuming. But at the same time it is extremely rewarding if your case study is being taught by corporate finance colleagues at reputed business schools. Furthermore, students often report that they truly enjoy learning through cases – actually, it is a key component of our action-oriented pedagogical approach at Vlerick. In my view, case studies present a great opportunity to disseminate knowledge to our students and participants but also to practitioners and peers in our area of expertise.
