Marc Buelens wins the ‘Psychologist of the Year’ award
For the sixth consecutive year, GAP (the Psychology alumni organisation of Ghent University) has joined forces with the publisher and book store Acco for the presentation of the ‘Psychologist of the Year’ award. This year’s award goes to Professor Emeritus Marc Buelens for the impressive way he has developed psychological insights, translating them and making them accessible to a wide management audience throughout his career. Through this annual award, GAP aims to recognise the merits of psychologists, thus contributing to a more positive view of psychology courses and the work of psychologists.
Marc Buelens graduated from Leuven in 1971 as an Experimental Psychologist. He kicked off his career as an assistant to Professor André Vlerick, at a time when a psychological approach to management was largely unknown in the business community. In 1987 he was appointed the Director of Vlerick Business School. Since 2009 he has been an Honorary Head Lecturer at Ghent University and in 2014 he ended his career at Vlerick Business School as a Professor Emeritus. He will be presented with the award during a celebratory event on the evening of 11th May, during which he will take us on a fascinating journey through his rewarding career.
