Vlerick students become third in Battle of Talents
Masters students Gaël Van Kerckhove, Maarten Schurmann, Jonas Eeckelaert, Arno De Pooter and Dieter Dhaenens became third in the 6th edition of Battle of Talents, the biggest online business plan competition for students and researchers in Flanders. They wrote a business plan for the “Medical Imaging Simulation”, their idea on an affordable and adequate tool for ultrasonic training for medical students. With their strong 3 minutes pitch and great entrepreneurial spirit, they managed to convince the jury consisting of Martine Tempels (Telenet), David Ducheyne (Securex), David Hespe (Electrabel), and Michaël Anseeuw (BNP Paribas Fortis). At the end of the evening, they were awarded with the 3rd prize and a Bryo & Addestino consultancy track worth of € 2,750.
Vlerick students traditionally do well in this competition. Last year, a Vlerick student won the Battle of Talents online Investor Competition and went home with € 2,000. This year, Vlerick student Reinout De Pril became 2nd in this investor competition.
This year, more than 540 students registered on the Battle of Talents platform and over 80 ideas were launched. In 5 months time, these entrepreneurial teams needed to try and convince virtual investors (played by Masters and MBA students) of their idea, trying to reach the highest share price. Finally, only 8 teams make it to the final battle to become one of the 3 best entrepreneurial teams during the closing event. Battle of Talents is organised by Venture Spirit and supported by BNP Paribas Fortis, Securex, Telenet Idealabs and Electrabel.
