To foster the research climate within the school, the Research Dean’s Office set up a series of research brown bags. The purpose of these research brown bags is to highlight current cross-disciplinary research at Vlerick Business School and to create opportunities for sharing recent research insights. Through videoconferencing it is possible to follow the brown bags from Ghent, Leuven or Brussels. They can be attended, free of charge, by all people from Vlerick, parent universities or other academic institutions.
This seminar was chaired by Sophie Manigart, Miguel Meuleman, David Devigne and Bart Van Hoe and focused on "Venture Capital and Private Equity Research at Vlerick".
Abstract: Private equity and venture capital have emerged as important sources of finance for start-up firms and more established firms in the past twenty years. This increased importance has attracted academic interest from different academic fields ranging from finance to sociology. Within the School, there is long history of research starting with the work of Prof. Sophie Manigart and the work of a number of her Ph.D. students. The main goal of this brown bag seminar was to introduce you to this exciting field of research.
