Research partnerships & Programmes

A lot of research initiatives are in collaboration with our associated universities, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven en Ghent University. Over the years, Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School has also created a number of alliances with organisations to strengthen management research in Flanders.

Research programmes comprise long term research activities on specific research topics.

Ghent University research platform

To foster collaborative research projects of teams of faculty and researchers of Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School and its parent university, Ghent University, a joint research platform has been established. It is an open networking platform that brings together faculty and researchers of both institutions, that facilitates the exchange of information and knowledge, and that provides easy access to the research facilities of the partner institution. The research platform of Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School and the Faculty of Economics and Management at Ghent University has been launched officially in April 2011. Faculty and researchers of Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School and of Ghent University can join the common research platform as “affiliated researchers”.

Faculty and researchers of Ghent University who want to become member of the research platform need to apply by submitting the application form (available on the faculty webpage of Ghent University) and a written motivation to the Head of Department who – upon approval – will forward the application to the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Ghent University. The motivation for the application should be supported by the chairperson of the competence centre in Vlerick in which the research collaboration will actually take place. The Dean will acknowledge that the applicant is indeed active as a researcher at Ghent University. Upon positive advice of the Dean, the file is forwarded to the Research Steering Committee at Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School for approval of the research affiliation. Vlerick’s research dean will take care of the formal appointment as “Vlerick affiliated researcher” or – in case the candidate is a faculty member or post-doctoral researcher at Ghent University – as “Vlerick research fellow”.
