Am Cham Belgium’s US Direct Investment in Belgium Research. In order to stay on top of new information and developments effecting businesses in Belgium, AmCham Belgium (with the assistance of Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School, updates its annual U.S. Direct Investment Report in Belgium (USDI) while simultaneously carrying out either a topical or business confidence survey. The report contains detailed information on the current climate for Doing Business in Belgium and provides the necessary data to support the Foreign Investors’ Agenda. Every three years the USDI Report is accompanied by our triennial survey on Business Confidence in Belgium, which assesses the important factors effecting investment in Belgium. |

Cranet, founded by Cranfield University, is a network of 39 top business schools and academic institutions. These Cranet research partners collect data on HRM practices and policies on a global scale (Europe, US, Asia, Australia). For more than 10 years the Vlerick HRM centre has been the exclusive Belgian partner in the international Cranet network. Some of the other partners are Cornell, ESADE, Copenhagen Business School, Uppsala, EM Lyon, Vienna, Sankt-Gallen,... In the context of Cranet Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School is conducting comparative research in some 40 countries in the area of HRM strategies and practices. By virtue of its large scale and longitudinal character, the triennial survey not only shows contrasts among countries and cultures but also reveals new trends and evolutions. In June 2009, Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School has hosted and organised the 20th anniversary of the Cranet network. |

European Learning Styles Information Network (ELSIN) - The European Learning Styles Information Network (ELSIN) is an association of academics, researchers, trainers and practitioners in the fields of education, psychology, business, computer science, information systems, management and other related fields who are interested in the theory and application of learning and cognitive styles and strategies of learning and thinking. Dr Eva Cools, Vlerick Leuven Management School, is a member of the ELSIN current executive. Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School hosted the annual conference in 2008. |
Global Competiveness Report

The Global Competiveness Report of the World Economic Forum: Each year the World Economic Forum makes up a Global Competitiveness Report for which Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School is the Belgian academic partner institute. This report presents a worldwide ranking of circa 130 countries based on the competitiveness of their economy. The ranking has been the World Economic Forum’s flagship publication since 1979 and is widely recognized as the world’s leading cross-country comparison of factors affecting economic competitiveness and growth. As Belgian partner, Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School organises a yearly press conference and round table with detailed analysis of the results |

The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) research program
is an annual assessment of the national level of entrepreneurial activity.
Started as a partnership between London Business School and Babson College, it
was initiated in 1999 with 10 countries, expanded to 21 in the year 2000, with
29 countries in 2001 and 37 countries in 2002. GEM 2009 is set to conduct
research in 56 countries. The Belgian GEM team is located at the and is funded
by the Flemisch Government through Steunpunt Ondernemerschap en Internationaal
Ondernemen (Policy Research Centre STOIO link to www.ondernemerschap.be).
Vlerick has participated in GEM from 2000 onwards. |
Great Place to work survey

The Great Place to work survey: The ‘Best Employer’ is a largescale survey of employers within the EU that place their personnel management policy at the centre of their business policy. More than 40 countries participate in the survey, existing of 3600 companies of which 1350 in Europe. In Belgium, Vlerick’s HRM Centre is the academic partner. GUESSS (Global University Entrepreneurial Spirit Students’ Survey - GUESSS is a research project about the context of Entrepreneurship. GUESSS investigates the question: “How entrepreneurial are students in higher education?” The aim is to compare the entrepreneurial intention and activity of students in several countries. The project is managed by the Swiss Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland and is led by the Chair for Entrepreneurship at the European Business School (EBS) in Germany. Vlerick is the Belgian academic partner. The survey is conducted every two years. The results are published in the form of an international final report, national final reports, and other publications such as practicioner, conference, and journal article contributions. |
International Manufacturing Strategy Survey (IMSS):

The International Manufacturing Strategy Survey (IMSS): The aim of this international research programme is to study manufacturing strategies on a global scale and at a national level, and to establish a common database on manufacturing strategies, practices, and results. The research method is a questionnaire survey, performed by an international network of researchers in various countries. The survey gathers data from several hundreds firms in about 20 countries. Each country generally prepares a national report which is sent back to the participating firms and presented in a seminar. Coordinator of the network is Politecnico di Milano (Italy). Vlerick is design partner and the Belgian country partner. |
R+D+4i project

Vlerick is the academic partner for Flanders of the European R+D+4i project . The purpose of the R+D+4i project is to respond to the challenges that globalisation poses to the European Union’s (EU) economy. The project aims to foster progress in the EU through the promotion of R+D+4i Factors of excellence, which are: Research, Development, Innovation, Identity, Impact and Infrastructure. |
