Vlerick student projects more successful than ever

30 May 2011

Every year, the Vlerick Masters and full-time MBA students conclude their academic year with an ‘in-company project’. This is when teams of 2 or 3 students work intensively for 8 up to 14 weeks in a company on a specific, well-defined project. However, this year the business world’s demand for Vlerick students is greater than the supply. So, companies that are interested in lining up students for the next academic year had better act soon!

This year, a total of 304 students sought a suitable in-company project. At the moment, these students are following a Masters programme (Masters in General Management, Masters in Financial Management, or Masters in Marketing Management) or a full-time MBA programme. Vlerick received a total of 206 project requests from 154 different companies (some companies even submitted several project proposals). Ultimately, 145 projects could be accommodated, which met the needs of 109 companies. In-company projects are not only conducted in Belgian companies – projects are also running in the rest of Europe, the USA, Asia and Africa.

Historically, project requests have been initiated by the companies – but we’re now seeing the students initiating a considerable number of projects. More and more students are looking proactively for a suitable company for their final project. Definitely a good exercise for applying their presentation skills and powers of persuasion in the real-life business community, and a beautiful example of entrepreneurship in practice!

Would you like to ensure a place for your company’s project in 2012? You can submit an in-company project request from September 2011 to the end of January 2012. More info: www.vlerick.com/projects
