New academic year takes off
On 14
September, Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School’s new academic year was
inaugurated via the traditional opening event in the Ghent University
auditorium, in the presence of Dean Philippe Haspeslagh, General Director
Patrick De Greve, students, parents and families.
Vlerick is starting this new academic year with a total of 483 new students – 256 of them are following a Masters programme, and 227 are pursuing an MBA. These figures parallel those of last year, which is a confirmation of the School’s attraction and high reputation.
Among the Masters programmes, the Masters in General Management, with 149 students divided into 3 groups, continues to be particularly popular. The Masters in Marketing counts 47 students, and Financial Management has grown again and is now attended by 60 students.
Of the 227 MBA students, 64 are following the full-time programme. The other 163 MBA students have chosen the part-time programme which can be combined with a full-time career.
Vlerick abroad
The Vlerick Beijing International MBA Programme (BiMBA) at Peking University in China has also gotten underway. Vlerick Chairman Louis Verbeke and Vlerick International Dean Bruce Stening have had the pleasure of welcoming 49 full-time and 120 part-time students to the new academic year.
Only the St. Petersburg Campus has yet to begin the new academic year – the part-time MBA starts there at the end of October.
Increasingly international
Vlerick’s international reputation continues to grow as well. This year’s MBA enrolment comprises no less than 40 different nationalities, and the Masters students come from 25 different countries. And of the 64 students in the full-time MBA, 56 have a non-Belgian nationality.
