Cognitive styles across the borders

Karlien Vanderheyden, Eva Cools and Ann-Sophie De Pauw successfully completed a joint study on the cross-cultural validity of the Cognitive Style Indicator questionnaire (CoSI). This project on “Cognitive styles in an international perspective: cross-validation of the Cognitive Style Indicator" was funded by the Academic Research Fund.

In this project, the cross-cultural validity of the Cognitive Style Indicator (CoSI) has been investigated with a sample of Belgian employees and students and a similar South-African sample. Overall, the study supported the cross-cultural validity of the CoSI (performing measurement equivalence tests and nomological network analyses), although further research in other international samples is particularly needed to strengthen these results.
