Vlerick part of organising committee European Reward Management Conference

16 Dec 2009

On the 26th and the 27th of November, EIASM (The European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management) organised the second edition of the European Reward Management Conference in Brussels. Xavier Baeten, manager of the Vlerick Reward Centre, is a member of the organising committee. For the next edition in 2011, he will be the chairperson of the conference.

The conference brings together both researchers and practitioners in the field of reward systems: researchers from universities, business schools and other research institutions, human resources professionals from companies, consulting firms, and general managers responsible for developing reward strategies, systems and their implementation in companies, and reward system experts from employers’ and employees’ associations.

They discussed current pay and reward issues, e.g. regarding the causes and consequences of the economic crises, and look for good practices to develop reward systems based on (applied) academic research and practical experiences. The key note speaker was David Balkin (Professor of Management, Leeds School of Business, University of Colorado) who talked about "Rethinking Rewards as if Ethics Mattered".
