Chair with Belgacom results in new game on leadership

18 Dec 2009

Within the framework of the Belgacom chair ‘Building Organisations that last', Belgacom together with Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School have recently developed a “serious game”. The game is currently in a stage of technical implementation.

A serious game goes way beyond the traditional forms of e-learning or simulation. Its goal is to help leaders acquire skills in social and emotional intelligence via thirty modules of each thirty minutes. The game is aimed to make leaders more conscious of their psycho-emotional habits that may occur while leading their team(s), hence integrating respect, ‘can do’ and passion in their daily behaviour. Vlerick staff that are involved in designing the scenario and developing the content of the game include Herman Van den Broeck, Inge Degraeve, and Veronique Warmoes. From next academic year on, the game will be applied in the MBA and the open programmes.
