Student Vlerick Angels

20 Dec 2007

The Vlerick Angels will be spreading their wings over the School this year for the third time. This group of students in Vlerick’s three Master’s programmes – General Management, Financial Management and Marketing Management – supports small-scale local children’s projects all over the world.

Every year a company is acknowledged for its corporate social responsibility. The first Acknowledgement was awarded to the Belgian chain of supermarkets Colruyt in 2006, and to the soya food producer Alpro in 2007.  The Vlerick Angels Acknowledgement 2007-2008 will be devoted to the theme of corporate social responsibility in terms of maintaining and managing water.

The founders of Angels have now formed a non-profit organisation. Every year enthusiastic alumni, with support from Professor Céline Louche, manage to get the new intake of Master’s students interested in their activities. Besides awarding the Acknowledgement, the students also hold various benefits to raise money for the chosen school project. This year, for instance, they are organising a Vlerick Angels Family Day, offering exclusive lunches with Louis Verbeke and Philippe Vlerick on eBay and auctioning paintings done by artist friends. The funds raised have already helped build a nursery school in Tanzania and buy school uniforms for children in Honduras.
