Managers Zonder Grenzen
Each year, Vlerick Leuven
Gent Management School and the Vlerick Leuven Gent Alumni Association send
thousands of Christmas cards to their friends and clients in a sincere desire to
wish them season's greetings and a prosperous new year.
Lately, however, the School and its Alumni Association have decided that the money usually allocated to cards and postage would be better spent as a donation to charity. Therefore, we now send an electronic greeting card and have contributed 7,500 euro to a project of Managers Zonder Grenzen (Managers without borders).
This contribution supports the "Energizing Development for Women's Associations in High Guinea" project and, more specifically, the purchase of a 'platform' for the Women's Association of Lorombo. This platform is built around a simple diesel engine that powers various tools -- such as a cereal mill, an alternator, a pump... -- thus alleviating many of the women's burdensome and exhausting tasks.
Three of our Vlerick alumni and members of Managers Zonder Grenzen -- Katy Vancoillie, Kris Van Rattingen and Stefaan Vermeiren -- have agreed to give their full support to the project. They will guide and coach the project by offering their management expertise at all implementation stages, including installation of the platform, training on how to use the platform, and marketing the products.
Best regards,
