About the project members: ATC, URCO and TRIAS
ATC
ATC (Assistance Technique et Coopération) is a Guinean NGO, created in 2004, and based in Dabola (High Guinea). ATC's general goal is to reduce poverty in the rural zones by creating favourable conditions for income generating activities. Therefore, ATC helps local farmer organisations with the supply of high quality input and the transformation and commercialisation of the agricultural production. ATC has built an experience in the so-called ‘multifunctional platforms’: a diesel engine with several transformation devices for crushing, pounding, peeling and polishing agricultural products like rice, maize, peanuts and sheanuts.
Until now, ATC assisted in the creation of local farmer unions, the creation of local supply networks and the installation of over 20 multi functional platforms. Actually, they are looking for financial support to continue activities.
URCO
URCO (Union Régionale de Commercialisation des Oléagineux) is one of the local farmer organisations ATC is working with in order to commercialise oil-containing agricultural products.
Today, URCO works with over 20 farmer groups, containing over 400 active members, especially women. URCO’s aim is to help its members to commercialise their products. Therefore, URCO buys, stocks and sells sheabutter and peanuts of its members.
TRIAS
TRIAS is a Belgian development organisation that supports partner organisations in the South that help people (small-scale farmers and entrepreneurs) with their poverty reduction businesses.
Trias wants to stimulate the dynamics and creativity of entrepreneurial people. We focus on a sustainable local economic development and on the livelyhood security of our target group.
Trias also wants to listen to and learn from the South in order to sensitise, inform and motivate Flemish farmers and entrepreneurs. We believe that the challenges of these groups are the same in the North and the South and that reciprocity can make us all progress together.
