This programme is ideal for all professionals who work in a dynamic environment and who want to expand their knowledge of mergers and acquisitions, such as financial analysts, CFOs, CEOs, business development managers, strategy officers, consultants... with at least a basic understanding of finance and strategy.

Content

During this 5-day programme you will explore the fundamentals of mergers and acquisitions in both theory and practice. Different topics will be discussed ranging from strategy and finance to human resources. To ensure a practical and action-oriented approach, particpants will be challenged to deal with real-life situations. After reviewing the more theoretical aspects, professionals are invited to share their experiences.

The programme topics

This is a 5-day programme. Each day starts at 9 am and ends at 5:30 pm or 7.30 pm.
The programme is as follows:

  • Day 1: Pre-deal mergers and acquisitions strategy
  • Day 2: Mergers and acquisitions tactics; legal structure and due diligence
  • Day 3: Valuation and financing of mergers and acquisitions; negotiating the deal                                                                                              
  • Day 4: Mergers and acquisitions special topics in accounting and human resources                                                                                                 
  • Day 5: Mergers and acquisitions integration; trends in a new environment, a private equity perspective

The Vlerick approach

To ensure a practical and action-oriented approach, case studies are used as the primary – but not exclusive – vehicle for teaching. Participants will be challenged to deal with real-life situations, apply the appropriate concepts and techniques, decide upon a course of action, and discuss their recommendations in class.
