Testimonials

Gamal Khaldi - General Manager, I.R.I.S. ICTGamal Khaldi

In 2005, I had the opportunity to follow the Middle Management Programme. That programme gave me lots of additional insights and, as a result, helped me steer our acquisition at that time to success. Now, in 2009, I’ve just led another acquisition and integration. I’ve chosen the Advanced Management Programme to support me in finding the right frameworks and sounding boards for re-aligning and re-developing our company strategy − at both the corporate and the business unit levels.

Pieter Vansynghel - CEO, Eddy Merckx Cyclespieter vansynghel

The Advanced Management Programme is a perfect tool for experienced entrepreneurs and board members who want to challenge their vast amount of experience and academic background with real-life discussions among their peers.
Without a doubt, one of the programme's main success factors is the fact that it is conducted by outstanding academic professors. In addition to finding an ideal soundboard in your fellow participants, you will also encounter friends for life.

Olivier Treinen - Managing Director, Context olivier treinen

A perfect combination of academic thinking and models with the participants’ real-life experiences. Constant and creative interaction − among the participants as well as with the professors − boosted the assimilation of knowledge and opened different angles to approaching a question. Intelligent, useable and fun!

Lieve Verelst - Regional Director, Unique Belgium lieve verelst

My goal was to broaden my theoretical knowledge about strategic decision making & marketing, the optimisation of value creation and to learn how to improve my leadership style in managing people.  The AMP programme of Vlerick seemed to be the perfect platform.  It indeed revealed itself to be excellent, with both top class professors and content.

Gerda Van Damme - Sales Director EMEA, Chiquita Processed Food Ingredients  gerda van damme

The AMP programme provided me with strategic clarity in decision making and implementation techniques for my teams and myself resulting in strong alignment to execute and achieve the ultimate goal.

Willem Jan Van Vorstenbos - General Manager, Willem Jan Emons Cargo willem jan van vorstenbos

For me the three main pillars under an executive education programme are the content and structure of the programme, the quality of the lecturers, and the quality and diversity of thought of the participants. The Advanced Management Programme of Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School does an excellent job at all three of these key items.

Jean-Sébastien Struyf - Marketing Manager, Bristol-Myers Squibb Co.jean sebastien struyf

The Advanced Management Programme was a unique opportunity for me to take a break in my professional life. More than a refresher, it helped me bring together various pieces of the big picture that I did not realise I had in my toolbox. The contact with colleagues from different industries also inspired me a lot and will help me bring new ideas and experiences into my pharma environment. Like knowing when it's time to eat ... or to be eaten!

Griet Heyvaert - Public Affairs & External Relations Manager, Electrabel Griet Heyvaert

After 25 years of management experience in the energy sector, I want to reinforce and structure my capacity of strategic thinking.  Supplies of gas and electricity have to be managed in a challenging and changing environment and we need fresh ideas.

Vlerick provides the right professional environment. I appreciate the unique combination of highly experienced teachers, case studies to apply the theory, reflections on concrete applicability and inspiring discussions with other participants. These discussions can be very challenging sometimes.

Karen Stroobants - Strategy & Business Development Director, Nike EMEA Logistics CenterKaren Stroobants

I stepped into the AMP to broaden and refresh my management and leadership framework. This framework is based on innovative strategic thinking in different management domains, and results from intensive experience sharing with other senior leaders. When working for a number of years in the same company, it is important to find different ways to challenge your thinking and keep an open window on the broader business world around you. AMP is for me a way to do this.

Anne Coppens - Programme Director, TelenetAnne Coppens

The Advanced Management Programme has fully met my expectations. It helped me evaluate my company’s business
from an inclusive, enterprise-wide focus: I learned to look beyond individual projects and disciplines and to adopt a multi-disciplinary approach − which requires the combination of strategic, commercial and financial skills. In addition to the expertise the professors shared with us, the group discussions and best practice testimonials from fellow participants made this course a source of inspiration and high-level knowledge.

Bart Van Ouytsel - Managing Director, Hydrogenics Europe

Bart Van Ouytsel“After a number of years in a top position, the Advanced Management Programme offered me a unique opportunity to test my experience against the latest insights and other points of view. The inspiration I gained − and the valuable network I joined − made this an unforgettable experience.”

Ann Sanders - General Manager, Neopost

Ann Sanders“Our daily challenges were set within academic models and tested against the experiences of the capable instructors and the other participants. The residential character of the programme allowed sometimes delicate issues to be discussed within the group, which was a valuable sounding board both during the training as well as afterwards. A moment of reflection and a real eye-opener.”

Geert Asselman - CFO, Sioen

Geert Asselman“How do we create, allocate and capture value for the organisation?
Not only is this question the guiding principle of this module, but it creates high expectations amongst the participants. And the promise is brilliantly fulfilled, thanks to:

* A very well balanced programme

  • Insights into processes of decision-making and group dynamics
  • Strategy formulation, implementation and follow-up
  • Corporate finance
  • Leadership/ leadership styles and stress management

* Top-of-the-bill lecturers

  • The sessions were presented by top-class professors who fit the academic insights perfectly into daily practice
  • In every session, the focus was on the essential

* A very heterogeneous group

  • With representatives from a variety of sectors (industry, non-profit, government, services, ...), you realise that there are other values, priorities and points of view. This makes the sessions extra enriching and is at least as important as the sessions themselves.

This programme is a real must for everyone who wants to achieve just a little bit more and to perform that extra bit better.”

Luc Segers - Senior Director Business Development Europe, OncoMethylome Sciences SA

Luc Segers“After a fascinating 15 years of growing and developing a young biotech company into a medium-sized organisation, I left the company to pursue other opportunities. One of my objectives at that point was to spend some time once again investing in my own development.

The Advanced Management Programme turned out to be ideal for this: strategic insights were put forward by a variety of professors with extensive practical experience. A very interesting and informative exchange of ideas takes place among the participants, who discuss a topic from very different industry sectors. This takes you out of your familiar environment and often gives you a clearer view of the business world. I always looked forward to the next sessions.

In the meantime, I’ve joined a new biotech company, and I’m using my new knowledge in my role as business developer.”

Jozef De Witte - Director, Centre for equal opportunity and for combating racism

Jozef De Witte“Whoever is going to participate in the Advanced Management Programme needs to know that it is intensive, even heavy sometimes, but that it’s more than worth the effort to study hard those 2-3 days each month. The emphasis in each session is placed on strategy, and that was also my motivation for joining the programme: looking at where the organisation wants to be in, say, 3 years, and also looking at all the things you need to set up and harmonise in order to get there.

The presenters always provide a solid theoretical basis, but nothing is as practical as a good theory: I came away from every session with very concrete ideas, which I could often apply the very next day. But in particular with a good supply of game plans, theoretical frameworks, and so on to keep me occupied for years to come. Sometimes I also confronted myself: how do I take decisions? how do I work with colleagues? how do I handle myself in discussions, in negotiations? But this was always well-framed and well-conducted.

A varied group of participants (a few more female participants and lecturers would make the programme even richer, because our group was mostly a men’s club − this is a matter of diversity), which created very interesting and enriching discussions, both in the work groups and in the breaks and evenings.”

Toon Beeks - Director Biomassa/Manager Biowaste, Van Gansewinkel

Took Beeks“Vlerick’s Advanced Management Programme has given me (within a limited time commitment) more insight into how right choices in the various business disciplines can lead to successful enterprises. The search and interaction with fellow participants, under the guidance of the professors, created a pleasant learning atmosphere. The method of working to master the subject matter using case studies really appealed to me. My challenge for the future is to put what I’ve learned into practice and to make it a structural part of my actions, which will lead to success and benefits for me as well as for my company.”
