This seminar will help the participants to 'lean' their manufacturing and
logistics processes by:
- Acquiring a coherent and integrated understanding of the concepts of lean
- Gaining insight into how to apply lean principles to operations and possible
related hurdles in implementation
- Implementing more successfully lean projects
Participants that attend all modules and complete the various homework
exercises and evening sessions will receive a certificate of completion.
Programme topics
The programme is held in two modules of three days each. The
first module covers the foundation of Operational Excellence: lean concepts in
theory and practice. The second module focuses on several topics that link to
Operational Excellence: 6 sigma, factory physics, bottleneck management, lean in
service contexts and in the supply chain, and change management.

Detailed programme
The Vlerick approach
Throughout the programme, a variety of lean business games are used in
combination with cases to test and prove the theories being taught. The evening
sessions are designed as exercises and discussion sessions to
help participants learn how to apply the various tools and philosophies from a
more practical standpoint.

Faculty
Keynote Speaker is Prof Dr John Bicheno, professor of Operations Management
at the University of Buckingham, Senior Research Associate at the Lean
Enterprise Research Centre (LERC) and Director of the MSc in Lean Operations at
Cardiff Business School. He will be complemented by four other professors.
