Purchasing Management
Strategic purchasing improves business
results
Strategic purchasing management is not just about realizing significant cost reductions. It can also enhance the competitive position of your business.
Why this programme?
Purchasing has the potential to improve performance of the company. The purchasing task is evolving from a merely administrative ordering function to a strategic function. On top of realizing important cost reduction, strategic purchasing management can help improving the competitiveness of the company.
Moreover, purchasing is an important stage in the total supply chain of the organisation. Integration with the other stages is essential. Due to globalisation and to the increasing importance of communication with other departments and organisations, ICT has an important impact on purchasing. Furthermore, cost reduction often needs risk management and therefore complexity of purchasing increases.
This two-day programme covers four aspects:
- Strategic sourcing. What is the importance of purchasing in an organisation? How can purchasing management be utilised to increase success and profitability of the enterprise?
- Purchasing development model. How does purchasing evolve over time? What are the objectives of a mature purchasing organisation?
- Cost calculation. What is total cost of ownership and how can I use it to control and reduce cost?
- Best practices. Which elements do I need to take into account and how do I proceed to collaborative sourcing? What are pros and contras to sourcing from low-cost countries? How do I cope with risks during the purchasing process? What are the latest trends in purchasing?
Target group
This programme is aimed at:
- managers with direct responsibility for purchasing: purchasing managers, facility managers and buyers
- managers from other functional fields who wish to broaden their vision of purchasing
- executives who are involved as consultants in supporting purchasing projects
The Vlerick approach
Vlerick makes the link between theory and practice. In this programme the concepts and newest trends are not only theoretically founded. Interesting and valuable cases give extra practical relevance.
We combine theoretical sessions with testimonials and business cases from experienced purchasing professionals. Furthermore, concepts are thoroughly analysed through interactive case studies and exercises.
