Testimonials part-time MBA
Stijn Renier, Part-time MBA 2007
Why always invest in machines and training for your employees and never in training for yourself as a manager? I think that gaining new insights − from the courses to be sure, but even more from my fellow MBA colleagues − was the most appealing reason for taking the MBA. Apart from that, I sense that the networking opportunities involved in these 2 years of study definitely add social and professional value to the programme.

Wei Wu, Part-time MBA 2006
Taking part in an MBA has always been a professional dream of mine. With the Internet bubble bursting a few years ago, my MBA journey was triggered by career insecurity. In this highly competitive market, I felt that an MBA could give me the opportunity to develop my career and offer more job security.
Doing a 2-year part-time study was a great challenge in the field of self-motivation and conflict management: in the most challenging period, where I had to combine finalizing my thesis and following the regular courses, I got to know myself thoroughly. This MBA has become a precious memory in my life, thanks to the satisfaction that comes after high pressure and the fun of learning during the often hard times.

Hendrik Devenyns, Part-time MBA 2006
My project evolved around a topic that did not really fit in with my job at the time: I was to develop a strategic market research plan for our company, while I had only a technical organisational background in production and lean manufacturing.
The impact of my MBA and my project hit me even faster than I expected: during my second MBA year, I was promoted to Plant Manager, and as director for the plant in Belgium I suddenly became responsible for sales expansion. The thorough market analysis, which was the core of my Vlerick project, proved to be a great foundation for further real-life plans.

Koen Bastiaens, Part-time MBA 2006
Applying the course content from the various management disciplines has brought immediate benefit to my daily professional activities. I particularly liked the teaching style, which is based on a good balance among up-to-date theory, case studies and practical exercises. Moreover, the opportunity to interact with fellow students from different backgrounds during casework and class discussions is especially enriching.

Carine Peña Gomez, Part-time MBA 2006
After some 7 years of work, I felt my career was somehow not at the stage I wanted it to be, that my competences were still ‘unexploited’ in a way. You could say that I wanted to check how I measure up to my business environment… And now, looking back on these two years of study, I can say that my business confidence has grown a lot again, as the MBA has certainly helped me to gain a broader, practical business understanding. Also, from a woman’s perspective, I think the Vlerick MBA experience, more than the actual diploma, can be a way to open doors for female professionals. I truly believe business will change dramatically once more women can get into these ‘reserved’ areas.
