Jan Lepoutre is Research Fellow at Vlerick Business School. Since 2012, he is Assistant Professor at ESSEC Business School in France. Jan Lepoutre obtained a MSc in Bioscience Engineering (KU Leuven, 2001), a Postgraduate in Applied Economics (Ghent University, 2004) and PhD degree in Applied Economic Sciences (Ghent University, 2008). In his PhD "Proactive Environmental Strategies in Small Businesses: Resources, Institutions and Dynamic Capabilities", he explored how small firms can successfully overcome the difficulties associated with pursuing green strategies. He has published several articles, amongst other in the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Business Ethics, Small Business Economics and Journal of Cleaner Production. Current research interests are focused on the psychological and institutional antecedents of entrepreneurial initiatives that promote social and economic development, such as the effects of education on entrepreneurship and the institutional dynamics of environmental strategy development.
