Louis-H. Verbeke

Louis Verbeke held or holds senior positions in the world of lawyering, not-for-profit and for-profit. He founded the Belgian Institute for Directors and an international law firm, chaired Vlerick for over 15 years and chairs or directs several listed or unlisted corporations. He also was an early seed capitalist. His academic interest, pursued for 30 years in Western Europe, Russia, South Africa and China, pertains to the often colliding worlds of ethos, law and ethics and how policy making and management behaviour are affected by “competing truths” in a world which at this point may be deglobalising.
He pursues how the changing strategic environment affects those “competing truths” and the capacity to “conceive and deliver strategy” differentially. He invites students to educate the class about their home country and to be educated by classmates about theirs.  His subjects include corporate modelling, M & A and policy making in respect of the above subjects. He also writes a monthly chronicle for the main business paper in his home country and is a director of the European Policy Centre, a Brussels based think tank.
