Research for Business in Human Resource Management

Our Research, Your Practice

Research is deeply connected to the roots of Vlerick as an academic business school. Our professors and researchers in HRM closely cooperate with the business world to directly translate new insights from research to your daily practice. Collaboration between our HR experts and your organisation happens in a variety of formats: a research partnership in the longer term or shorter advisory research projects. We provide answers to questions like: how do you get employees more involved? How do you get training effort to yield more? How do you increase the impact of your investments in HR practices? Our HR experts guarantee the scientific basis of the projects we carry out. And practical relevance is the most important feature.

A Research Partnership that Supports Management Practice

Do you think your organisation could benefit from our applied research? If so, then a Centre for Excellence is a unique platform for you. These centres are partnerships between a number of organisations and Vlerick within a specific management domain. Within the domain of HRM we have a Centre for Excellence in Strategic Talent Management and Strategic Rewards. Vlerick also has its own Executive Remuneration Research Centre.

Do you prefer a long term collaboration with Vlerick? A chair is a one-to-one relationship between a faculty member and your organisation. It offers your organisation the possibility to support research within a specific domain. This way, your company contributes directly to the growth of a specific management domain.

Our Offer is Too Good To Miss

You would like to call on the expertise of Vlerick professors and researchers -- on an ad hoc basis -- for pressing HRM management issues in your company? You've come to the right address. Together with you, we examine your HRM needs and requirements and, in consultation with you, we propose a tailor-made approach. Customised research, an in-company project by Vlerick students, customised advice, with or without related workshops ... the possibilities are wide open. In addition, we translate the research results into concrete, ready-to-implement recommendations.

We assist organisations throughout their development as a good employer with the help of internationally recognised tools as Great Place to Work and Investors in People. Every year the Great Place to Work® Institute, in collaboration with Vlerick, produces the list of ‘Best Workplaces’. This list recognises companies for their efforts in investing in HRM practices.

Another internationally recognised tool we work with is the model of ‘Investors in People’. With its roots in the UK, this quality label has grown into an international standard that acknowledges the efforts of companies in investing in a strategic HR policy.

Next to these two tools we offer a broad variety of HRM tools that your organisation can use within the framework of a customised research project or education programme. An example is the Career Focus Tool which offers your employees the possibility to assess their personal and professional development and career success. A perfect instrument to get a grip on your professional ambitions. Please contact us for an overview of all possibilities.
