You receive an error opening an archived email
General
When you open an archived email from within Outlook, you cannot see your
email content.
On the top of the email, the error message "There was an error loading this
item. Some functionality may not be available." appears.
Follow the steps below to resolve this issue.
How to resolve
- Open Outlook.
- Go to Tools > Options.
- Go to the tab Other.
- Click the Advanced Options button.
- Click the Custom Forms button at the bottom.
- Click the Manage Forms button.
You will see a window like this one

- Select all the items listed on the right and click the Delete button.
- Click Yes to confirm the delete.

- When all items are deleted, select all the items listed on the left and click the Copy button.
- Click the Close button.
- Click OK three times to close all open Outlook windows.
- Close Outlook, wait 5 minutes and reopen Outlook.
You should now be able to open your archived items without any problem.
