Bart Leten

Bart bestudeert innovatie strategieën van bedrijven. Hij is een frequente spreker op internationale conferenties en zijn onderzoek is gepubliceerd in verschillende toonaangevende internationale tijdschriften en boeken rond innovatie management. Zijn onderzoek heeft aangetoond dat bedrijven de efficiëntie van hun innovatie activiteiten kunnen verhogen door portfolio’s van gerelateerde technologieën op te bouwen en door intelligente locatiekeuzes te maken voor (nieuwe) innovatie activiteiten. Een andere kernbevinding is dat intellectuele eigendom (IP) een cruciale rol speelt in open innovatie strategieën omdat IP afspraken een directe invloed hebben op de economische waarde die open innovatie partners kunnen toe-eigenen. Zijn huidig onderzoek focust op de effectiviteit en het managen van open innovatie projecten (in nauwe samenwerking met Philips Research) en de hernieuwde strategische rol van corporate venturing.

Bart Leten is Associate Professor Innovatie Management aan Vlerick Business School en KU Leuven. Hij ontving een doctoraat in de Toegepaste Economie van KU Leuven. Aansluitend op zijn doctoraat, was Bart gastonderzoeker aan de Bocconi Universiteit (Milaan, Italië) en houder van een postdoctorale onderzoek beurs van het Vlaamse Fonds voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek (FWO). Zijn onderzoek en les interesses situeren zich in het domein van innovatie management.
