On your marks! Digital strategy sprint in one week

For the fourth year running, the digital strategy elective was organised in a “sprint” format. Vlerick Professor Arne Buchwald, our students, our Chair partner Accenture and its partners BeeOdiversity and Paradise City Festival worked together in a digital ecosystem over the space of a week. From Monday morning until noon on Friday the digital sprinters were presented with theoretical frameworks that put strategy into perspective, with personal coaching and a specific real-life assignment.

Arne Buchwald, Professor of Digital Transformation and Information systems: “This digital strategy elective goes to the very heart of Vlerick in many ways. Content-wise, digital transformation is one of the School’s knowledge pillars. But the format is also in line with the way we want to immerse our students in innovative ways of learning and confront them with real-life issues from real companies that they have to work out in real time. All of this backed by state-of-the-art theoretical frameworks for digital strategy of course.”

“Responsible business and innovation with purpose”

This year our Chair Partner Accenture invited our students to work on projects for BeeOdiversity – who develop nature-based solutions that aim to restore biodiversity – and Paradise City Festival, one of the most sustainable festivals in the world. “First of all, we wanted the students to work on projects for organisations that resonate with them,” explains Félix Amez, Innovation Director at Accenture BeLux. “For Accenture, responsible business and innovation with purpose are at the top of our agenda and influence the way we do business with our clients. That vision is also reflected in our new office on the Tour & Taxis site, which is one of the most sustainable office developments in Europe.
