Vlerick library supports good cause

DoeDeMee fundraising activityIn December the Vlerick Library organised a Book Sale to sponsor DoeDeMee, a UNESCO supported fundraiser fighting illiteracy. The Book Sale offered a range of management and study books at bargain prices to students, alumni and staff.

DoeDeMee is a campaign initiated by the graphic agency Beshart. 100 international graphic artists (re)designed the covers “The 100 Greatest Novels of All Time”. These were published and sold in poster size. For every poster sold, 5 euro went to a UNESCO literacy programme for women and girls in Africa.

The sale was a true bonanza due to the enthusiasm of our library staff and the support of the numerous buyers. The library bought 3 posters with the gained profit. The remaining sum was handed over to Tom Haentjens from DoeDeMee. Because the proceeds of two other fundraising activities were added Vlerick was able to donate no less than 1650 euro.
