    For their in-company project, three Masters students in Innovation & Entrepreneurship joined forces with Faro360, which builds micro-factories and trains local communities to prevent and recycle plastic waste. “They helped us shape both our business plan and our pilot project in the Senegalese city of Kaolack,” says the enthusiastic founder of Faro360, Koen Verrecht.

    In May and June, students Fabrice Verhaert and Stijn Van der Putten spent a month in Mali where, together with GreenVentures, they installed solar energy-based mini grids or ‘FlexGrids’. What began with fine-tuning a financial plan led to an educational path of social, international and innovative enterpreneurship. Recognition soon followed, in the form of substantial European financing for FlexGrid on the one hand and the first Soudal Award for Social Entrepreneurship on the other.

  4. Vlerick team reaches international L’Oréal Brandstorm finals for the first time

    For the first time, a team of Masters in Marketing Management students at Vlerick Business School has reached the world finals of the annual L’Oréal Brandstorm competition. At the L’Oréal headquarters in Paris Matthias Boterbergh, Eline De Meyer and Diego Bradt competed with some 40 other teams of 3 students. Previously, they made it through the Belgian finals and then the European finals successfully.

    For the fourth year in a row, Vlerick Business School organised a Digital Boot Camp in partnership with Coca-Cola. Students were submerged for three weeks in the world of digital marketing in an attempt to get to grips with rapid digital evolutions.

    Belgian clean-tech company Vyncke designs and constructs decentralised biomass power stations all over the world. Together with Indian energy and process specialist Forbes Marshall, the company set up M-Power in 2013 to provide sustainable energy solutions for communities in poor, isolated areas of India. This is still the mission today and partly thanks to three of our MBA students, M-Power can now grow without losing sight of this mission. Benjamin Corvilain, Christian Andres Lesmes Abril and Jean-Erik Verbeke spent two months working on a consultancy project. Jean-Erik tells the story.

  8. Masters student Sebastiaan Debrouwere is the best sales talent in Europe

    Two of our Masters students have proven to have a true talent for sales. Sebastiaan Debrouwere and Simon Ampe respectively won first and second prize at the 2016 European Sales Competition which took place in Helsinki. 24 students from 12 European universities participated in this annual B2B sales role-play. During simulated sales meetings participants have to convince buyers from sponsoring companies of the added value of their product and try to close a good sales deal.

  9. In-company projects – where fresh thinking meets real challenges

    Theory and practice go hand in hand at Vlerick. So each year, our Masters and MBA students finish their year with an eight-week consultancy project for a company or NGO. In teams of 2 to 3 students they analyse a specific strategic or managerial challenge, develop a practical solution and present it back to the company. We currently have a grand total of 118 projects with 103 companies. And our students are undertaking them all over the world.

  10. Digital marketing through co-creation

    For the third year in a row, a group of Master’s students at Vlerick Business School has had the opportunity to take part in a boot camp at Coca-Cola Enterprises. The topic? Digital marketing. A unique experience and a genuine ‘win-win’ situation for everyone involved. The boot camp is a perfect example of action-based learning. It takes Vlerick Master’s students out of the classroom and into the workplace, where they gain valuable hands-on experience.
