M&A Trends and Insights – Mr. Frans Muller

Ahold Delhaize is one of the world’s largest food retail groups, formed by the merger of Ahold and Delhaize Group in July 2016. Its family of local brands serves more than 50 million customers and they employ more than 370,000 associates in more than 6,700 stores. Ahold Delhaize brands are at the forefront of sustainable retailing, sourcing responsibly, supporting local communities and helping customers make healthier choices and generated €62.9billion in sales in 2017.
President and CEO of Ahold Delhaize, Mr. Frans Muller was one of the initiators and enablers of the merger between Ahold and Delhaize Group.

Frans Muller  During a keynote speech, Mr. Muller will highlight what the driving forces of both shareholders were, what obstacles were encountered and what specific actions were taken to end up with this successful deal.


Mr. Muller, also a board member of Vlerick Business School, will give us some insights in the planned integration, the synergies realised so far and share his personal learnings in this process. Finally, he will give us his vision on the future of the retail sector and, Ahold Delhaize’s strategy.

A panel of experts with Christel Van den Eynden (Liedekerke), Prof. Philippe Haspeslagh (Chairman ARDO and former Dean Vlerick Business School), Erwin Van Osta (CEO Hubo Groep) will comment and debate. Marc Cosaert (EY) and Wim De Vilder (VRT) will moderate the debate, and a networking reception will close the evening.

This evening is a must for business owners, board members, CEOs and MBI/MBO candidates who want to gain more insight into take-overs/divestments and learn from the M&A experience of leading companies.
