To foster the research climate within the school, the Research Dean’s Office set up a series of research brown bags. The purpose of these research brown bags is to highlight current cross-disciplinary research at Vlerick Business School and to create opportunities for sharing recent research insights. Through videoconferencing it is possible to follow the brown bags from Ghent, Leuven or Brussels. They can be attended, free of charge, by all people from Vlerick, parent universities or other academic institutions.
The seminar was chaired by Regine Slagmulder, Kurt Verweire, Koen Dewettinck, Maria Boicova and Koen Weemaes and focused on “Creating high-performing and risk aware organisations”.
Abstract: The Vlerick Research platform on Performance and Risk Management advocates an integrated perspective on both performance and risk. Performance management supports value creation through successful strategy execution, while risk management strives to mitigate the hazardous consequences of uncertainty. This research brown bag will provide an overview of the field of performance management and share the highlights of the Vlerick book project on high-performing organisations. In addition, two on-going research projects in the area of risk management will be presented, one on risk reporting to the board of directors and one on the effect of executive compensation design on company risk and performance.
