Carries out research into leadership – and serves as a coach for students and participants at Vlerick

Lien Desmet is a doctoral researcher at Vlerick.  Her research is in the field of people and organisation – and focuses on the hows and whens of identity-based leadership. Lien was awarded an FWO research scholarship for her PhD studies.

She’s also involved in our Centre for Excellence in Leading Adaptive Organisations, where she connects theory with practice. And she regularly takes on the role of coach for our Masters students and as part of the leadership simulation game.

In 2019, Lien spent a year as visiting researcher at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business. Before joining Vlerick, she gained research experience at United Nations University - CRIS in Bruges and at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia.
