Lieven Annemans has more than 20 years’ international experience in carrying out health-economic evaluations. He’s won awards at different congresses, received the Francqui Chair twice – and has more than 450 citations on the Web of Science.
His research focuses on epidemiological and budget/business impact models, Health Technology Assessments (HTAs) for preventive, diagnostic and curative interventions, retrospective/prospective health-economic evaluations, and hospital payment systems.
Lieven authored the book, Health Economics for Non-economists: An Introduction to the Concepts, Methods and Pitfalls of Health Economic Evaluations. He’s also written a background report for the EU Council, and two books on healthcare reform.
His previous roles include president of the International Society for PharmacoEconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) and the Flemish Health Council. As an advisor to the Cabinet of the Belgian Minister of Social Affairs, he played a leading role in the creation of the Belgian Commission for the Reimbursement of Medicines (CRM).
