Marjana Subotic is a doctoral researcher at Vlerick. Her research is in the fields of entrepreneurship, cognitive science and behavioural and entrepreneurial finance.
Her current PhD research focuses on founders’ remuneration, distributive justice and early decisions concerning ownership agreements. All these factors can significantly impact a founding team’s dynamics.
For instance, one of the earliest decisions that founders face is how to split the equity in their team and when to sign formal contracts. Assessing each founder’s past and future contributions is challenging, given both the venture’s and founders’ futures are uncertain. Marjana is diving deeper into dynamic equity agreements, examining both antecedents and consequences to see if including such provisions would be good for the team and the company’s performance.
Aside from her PhD research, Marjana is a member of the Centre for Excellence in Scale-ups. Through the centre’s activities, she has shared critical academic research insights with the entrepreneurial community in multiple Rising Star Monitor reports.
