Discover what you need to do to gain a Certificate in Research in Management and your PhD degree.

RESEARCH IN MANAGEMENT CERTIFICATE

When you finish stage one of the doctoral programme and pass the research proposal seminar, you’ll be awarded a Research in Management Certificate from Vlerick Business School.

To receive the certificate, you need to:

  • Pass all courses and complete all assignments
    • Carry out a literature review
    • Carry out a pilot study
    • Pass a written exam
    • Submit your research proposal and impact plan
  • Present your research proposal
  • Submit your annual progress report

Once your research proposal is accepted, you can start the research stage of the programme.

   


PHD DEGREE

Before you can defend your PhD, you need - next to the requirements above - to:

  • Attend two personal growth events
  • Present at a two conferences
  • Present your research progress in your two doctoral seminars
  • Submit your final doctoral dissertation
  • Submit your annual progress report

What happens after you submit your doctoral dissertation?

An exam board is assigned by The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Ghent University and the Faculty of Economics and Business at KU Leuven to evaluate your dissertation. They decide if you can be admitted to the public defence.

If your public defence is successful, you will gain a joint PhD from the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Ghent University and from the Faculty of Economics and Business at KU Leuven.
