A new route to becoming a Vlerick Alumnus

There’s a new way to join our vibrant alumni community and open doors to opportunities all over the world. When you combine at least 2 short-term programmes – comprising at least 12 days, taken over a 3-year period – you can achieve the Certificate of Management Excellence and become a Vlerick Alumnus. You get 1 year of membership for free. Here are 2 combinations you could take…

How does it work?

Here’s how two of our participants – at different stages of their careers – gained their Certificate of Management Excellence.

Vlerick Certificate of Management Excellence example

Kurt

In 2017, Kurt took on his first managerial role at a healthcare organisation. He wanted to come to Vlerick to broaden his skillset – but he didn’t quite have the experience to join our Management Acceleration Programme. So he registered on the Leadership Transition Programme – a seven-day course that’s part of our People Management and Leadership domain.

In 2018, Kurt decided he wanted to take on greater responsibilities. So he invested in developing his skills at Vlerick on the Financial Management for Non-Financial Managers. This is a seven-day programme from our Accounting and Finance domain.

Kurt met all the requirements to gain the Certificate of Management Excellence:

  • A minimum of two programmes ✓
  • Completed within three years ✓
  • At least 12 days of learning ✓
  • At least two knowledge domains ✓

Vlerick Certificate of Management Excellence example

Sylvie

Sylvie is a senior manager in a transport company. A couple of years ago, she came up with an idea for a new service, but she didn’t have the skillset to turn it into a concrete business proposal. So with our help, she devised a personalised Vlerick learning journey that would give her the tools she needed.

Sylvie joined our five-day entrepreneurship programme, New Business Development, where she turned the idea into a real business plan. Then she had to develop the skills to get the rest of her organisation on board – so she spent four days on Leading Change, part of our People Management and Leadership domain. She also took a four-day marketing programme, Strategic B2B Marketing, so she could market the new service successfully.

Sylvie met all the requirements to gain the Certificate of Management Excellence:

  • A minimum of two programmes ✓
  • Completed within three years ✓
  • At least 12 days of learning ✓
  • At least two knowledge domains ✓
