Vlerick students win 3rd place in the regional CFA Institute Research Challenge

A team of five Vlerick students from the Masters in Financial Management programme – Maxime Maertens, Philip Adcock, Thomas Deschepper, Jiri Taecke and Ludovic Battard – has won 3rd place in the local CFA Institute Research Challenge for Belgium and the Netherlands. This international competition is organised by the CFA Institute, the global association of investment professionals.

Ten teams of five students each participated in the competition, in which they receive the assignment to write an analytical report about a publicly traded company. This year’s company was Imtech in the Netherlands. The students are studying at Dutch and Belgian universities. Ultimately, four educational institutions were selected for the ‘best written report’ category: Duisenberg School of Finance, Erasmus University Rotterdam, Tilburg University and Vlerick Business School. These teams then gave oral presentations of their work before a jury of experts in Amsterdam. The final winner was Tilburg University. The winners receive a €1000 scholarship for the CFA Programme and also have the honour of representing the Netherlands and Belgium in the EMEA finals in London.
