Stijn Viaene

Stijn is passionate about what it means to successfully create a digital enterprise, capturing the value that comes with the use of novel technological advances such as big data, analytics, social media, mobile computing, and the cloud. The research for business initiatives he develops in collaboration with industry and public sector partners at Vlerick Business School, including the Centre for Excellence “BPM Network” (Business Process Management), and the Centre for Excellence “Enterprise Architecture Management” contribute to a significantly better practical and academic understanding of what it means to make optimal use of IT in a contemporary organizational context. Stijn loves teaching with cases. Profile

Stijn Viaene is Full Professor of Information Systems Management and Partner at Vlerick Business School. Stijn serves as the Dean for the School’s Russian (St. Petersburg) operations. Besides working at Vlerick, he is a tenured Professor in the Department Decision Sciences and Information Management at KU Leuven. Stijn did his PhD on Information Systems Management at KU Leuven. His research and teaching focus on Information Systems Management issues in (1) business and IT alignment, strategy, leadership and governance, (2) business process management, and (3) business intelligence and analytics. His research has been published in renowned research (for business) outlets such as MIT Sloan Management Review, Communications of the ACM, Information and Management, Journal of Information Technology, IEEE IT Professional, IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, European Journal of Operational Research and Expert Systems with Applications.
