Thank you, pioneers!

First fundraising report 2017-2019

Between 2017 and 2019, we raised 2.4 million euros in donations and pledges for the three funds that form the cornerstones of our fundraising strategy. But even more rewarding was seeing how we could build a fundraising community of pioneers, and just how many faces “giving back” to Vlerick can have.

At Vlerick, we see ourselves as a community where entrepreneurship interacts with science and learning. A mission that started in 1953 as one of the first business and management schools in Europe and has since only gained a more vital role. The need for positive changemakers has never been so pressing and crucial in today’s rapidly changing society.

“With this fundraising initiative, we want to further increase the School’s societal impact,” Dean Marion Debruyne explains. “To attract the best talent and to give them opportunities to benefit from the Vlerick knowledge and the Vlerick spirit of entrepreneurship.”

3 funds, 3 ways of giving back

We established three funds that each cover a particular reason why people want to give back to Vlerick:

This has resulted in some amazing stories that you can read in our fundraising report 2017-2019.

Building a fundraising community

“It was clear from the beginning that fundraising for Vlerick appealed to a large number of people,” Marion recalls. “Both to those who have always been close to the School and to entrepreneurs, international alumni or even ‘unusual suspects’ like conceptual artist Arne Quinze, who was happy to have a piece of his art auctioned.”

With the help of our donors and the support of the Vlerick Foundation, the next generation of students and their ideas will shape Vlerick into a school that becomes a true European entrepreneurial ecosystem in the next 5 years: creating the heart of real and necessary positive change.
