Vlerick Online MBA ranks number 12 in QS World University Ranking of the world’s best online MBA providers

Results of the QS World University ‘Online MBA 2020’ Ranking

As universities across the world transition to online learning programmes in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, QS Quacquarelli Symonds – global business school analysts – have released their annual list of the world’s best online MBA providers. Ranked for the first time, Vlerick’s Online MBA programme immediately holds the 12th position. We’re also the only BeNeLux business school to be featured in this list. The 2020 edition of the list names 47 programmes worldwide, with Spain’s IE Business School ranked number one for the fourth consecutive year.

Professor Steve Muylle, Programme Director of the Online MBA, says: “This global ranking of our Online MBA is a key step in sharing Vlerick Business School’s unique approach to flexible and high impact online learning journeys with business professionals and entrepreneurs around the world.”

In general, the ranking demonstrates that online business education is still overwhelmingly provided by Western, Anglosphere universities. Beyond the United Kingdom and United States, pockets of educational excellence in this field are found elsewhere, including Vlerick Business School in Belgium. Various aspects of our Online MBA programme have contributed to our excellent position in this ranking.

We are a truly global MBA. Whereas the ranking shows that almost a quarter of online MBA providers (11 out of 47) record no international students – those taking the programme from a country different to that of the provider – among their cohort, over 50% of the participants in the Vlerick Online MBA are located outside of Belgium.

The 100% online programme can be completed at you own pace, ranging from 1 year (fast-track) tot 5 years. This very high flexibility allows participants to determine their own learning pace, from whatever location they choose.

By integrating a large variety of learning formats including games, quizzes, videos, simulations – combined with building the faculty into the course materials to share their insight and expertise – we guarantee a highly interactive and innovative learning experience with a very high learning impact. The programme goes far beyond simply pushing a set of frameworks towards the participants in a digital one-way format. Instead, our learning design stimulates them to interact with the digital content, as well as peers, coaches, tutors and faculty, and turn that knowledge into action.

Finally, the personal support as well as the personal interaction and networking between participants, and with faculty via group live sessions is very important.

Susanne de Laat, Programme Coordinator Online MBA, says: “We stay in touch with all of our participants, on a personal level. They can rest assured to get all the help they need to make progress throughout their learning journey, receiving the same quality guidance as they would offline, from the induction over leadership coaching to career advice. Also, the group dynamics and interaction are no different from on-site classes. And we see a high degree of online networking, with participants even generating leads for each other’s businesses.”
