Ready to buy your own company and launch your entrepreneurial career?

Why this conference?

More and more people are aspiring to become owner-managers or entrepreneurs rather than managers in large companies. One way to realise your entrepreneurial potential is to take over an existing company through a management buyout or management buy-in. Given the huge number of company founders who will retire in the coming decade, management buyouts or buy-ins might well be fruitful avenues to entrepreneurial success.

After six successful editions with over 1.000 participants, the seventh edition of this conference will provide you with a hands-on learning experience into the steps you need to take for a successful buyout or buy-in. People who have successfully followed their dreams and bought into companies share their stories, along with academics and experts providing backgrounds on the best approach to tackle this exciting challenge. This event offers you an excellent opportunity to reflect on your own entrepreneurial aspirations and to prepare your own buyout case.

Schedule private meet-ups

Meet with brokers, investors, financial advisors, and bankers during private meet-up sessions (using Conversation Starter) to ask your personal questions and get started. These pre-conference sessions take place from 9.30am till 1.00pm and will provide insights into:

  • How to find a deal?
  • How to approach a seller?
  • How to finance your investment?
  • How to structure your deal?

Interactive buyout case

During the conference you will work on one interactive buyout case to sharpen your skills and understand the essence of assessing and structuring a buyout deal.




Eli Talmor is professor at London Business School and founder of the Institute of Private Equity. He is a  member  of  the  nomination  committee  for  the  Nobel  Prize  in  Economic  Sciences and has served on the board of Governors of London Business School, Tel Aviv University and the advisory board of the African Venture Capital Association. Professor Talmor practices venture capital and is a serial investor. He co-founded SunRay Renewable Energy which was acquired in one of Europe’s largest venture exits of that year. 

His talk will present the perspective of external investors such as private equity, venture capital and business angels in working with management on a value add strategy and building a governance structure. Particular attention will be given to strategizing for harvesting whether an outright exit or other forms of monetization to ensure access to external equity infusion, alignment of interest and the derived consequences on the business strategy.

Walter Kuemmerle is a leading academic expert on entrepreneurship and private equity, as well as international strategy and management. He was a professor at Harvard Business School for over 10 years, with a joint appointment in the Entrepreneurial Management and Technology & Operations Management faculty groups. He earned a Doctorate in Business Administration with a specialization in strategy and business policy at Harvard Business School. His award-winning research has been published in leading journals and books. He is based Boston but works with companies all over the world. 

One of the most difficult topics in a growing company is managing people. Quite a few companies that had a great technology or product ultimately failed because they did not hire well, because they promoted the wrong people or because they did not create the right culture. His presentation will highlight some challenges of managing people as companies grow and describe how you can overcome these challenges.
