Ben De Coninck

Doctoral Researcher, Operations & Supply Chain Management

Passionate about using research to power innovation and digital transformation in the public sector

Ben De Coninck joined Vlerick as a researcher in 2016. A year later, he started a joint PhD with Vlerick, KU Leuven, and the Royal Military Academy of Belgium. His research focuses on using open innovation strategies – such as crowdsourcing and innovative procurement, etc – as a lever for digital transformation in the public sector.

Ben is passionate about translating academic insights to practice. He served as an expert for VARIO when advising the Flemish government. And he collaborated with the FPS Policy and Support and the Federal Cabinet of Public Service to develop an ambition note and white papers on innovative public procurement.

Ben has published several academic articles and white papers, and has organised workshops together with public sector organisations. He has also written a teaching case on IT strategy and governance – which we use in our executive education programmes.
