Entrepreneurs need to get their foot in the door

Bipin always dreamed of starting a business of his own. So, he launched a small business in India, helping Belgian companies develop software. When his company was acquired by a Belgian bank, he looked for new ways to satisfy his entrepreneurial spirit.

Today, he’s working for Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) − a multinational IT service, consulting and business solutions company, headquartered in Mumbai, India. One of the 3 largest IT consultancies in the world, TCS is on a much larger scale than what Bipin experienced before: his own company employed about 100 people; now he’s in an enterprise of close to 400,000 employees worldwide. “A completely different dimension, but a great experience!” he says happily.

Bipin Nambiar: “One of the very positive aspects of studying at Vlerick is the network that you develop. Networking is very important, especially for someone like me who is from abroad. You not only need a great product, you need to have an opportunity to explain that product. Getting a foot in the door is sometimes the most important thing for an entrepreneur − and the Vlerick network has really helped me in that.”

Key message:
“A key message I would like to offer is simply: Go for it! Many people have dreams − but, you know, ‘life happens when you’re making plans for it’. So, just go for it!”
