Brecht Cardoen

Profiel

Brecht Cardoen is Associate Professor in Technology and Operations Management at Vlerick Business School and Associate Professor at the Faculty of Business and Economics of KU Leuven (Belgium). He received his PhD in Applied Economics from KU Leuven on the impact of optimisation techniques applied to hospital operating theatres (2009). Brecht has been visiting University of Cambridge - Judge Business School (UK, 2012) and University of Western Ontario - Ivey Business School (Canada, 2017). He holds teaching assignments at Executive MBA, Full-time MBA, graduate and undergraduate level in the field of management science and introductory statistics. Within executive education, teaching is oriented towards operational managers, healthcare professionals and physicians. His research is centered around healthcare process management and optimization with a particular interest in hospitals. He heads the healthcare provider initiatives of Vlerick’s Healthcare Management Centre such as MINOZ, a research network of Belgian hospitals searching for solutions to operational challenges. Brecht furthermore contributes to a wide variety of research initiatives for business and society. His work has been published in various international and refereed academic journals.
He is also editorial board member of “Operations Research for Healthcare”.
