  1. Wakati project selected for international final of the Global Social Venture Competition

    A team of Vlerick full-time MBA students competing in the Global Social Venture Competition of Berkeley University has won the francophone regional final in Paris. Over 100 teams from across Europe, Canada and Africa originally entered in this competition which provides aspiring entrepreneurs with mentoring, exposure, and financing to transform their ideas into businesses that will have positive real world impact. They have written a business plan for Arne Pauwels, a young Belgian entrepreneur and founder of the Wakati project.

    On 5 February the Career Fair gave our MBA and Masters students the opportunity to meet some 150 representatives from 46 companies. “The Career Fair is an essential component of the career services we offer,” comments Academic Dean Dirk Buyens. “Our primary aim is for the students to get to know themselves really well and then to position themselves in the market.”

  3. Two Vlerick student teams are making progress in the Henkel Innovation Challenge 2014

    Four students who are currently participating in our Masters in Marketing Management programme have been selected for the semi-finals of the annual international Henkel Innovation Challenge. They are two of the ten top teams of the Benelux. The regional semi-final will take place on February, 28 at the MAS Museum in Antwerp. The winning teams of all semi-finals will compete at the international final at the Henkel global headquarters in Düsseldorf (Germany) for a chance to meet the Henkel CEO personally and finally the possibility to win a ticket around the world worth € 10,000.

  4. Two teams of Vlerick students advance to regional finals of Hult Prize

    Two teams with students from the full-time MBA and from the Masters in Marketing Management programme at Vlerick Business School have been selected for the regional finals of the fifth annual Hult Prize, the world’s largest student competition. The Hult Prize is a start-up accelerator for social entrepreneurship, which brings together students from top-tier schools around the globe to solve the world’s most pressing issues. They are competing head-to-head in six cities around the world for a chance to secure $1 million in start-up funding to launch a sustainable social venture.

  5. Successful fourth edition of Vlerick Sales Competition leads up to four laureates

    On Thursday 16 January the finals of the fourth edition of the Vlerick Sales Competition took place at our Ghent campus. The competition aims to stimulate a real life sales experience and teach students how to successfully overcome potential challenges that lead up to closing a sale. 17 Masters students participated in sales role plays involving 42 senior level sales executives from 24 sponsoring companies. Claire Cammaert was this year’s winner. Following in her footsteps are Clara Verhoeven, Janne Scheepmans and Tom De Craecker. All four of them did a great job in convincing the jury members of their sales skills.

The setting of the Meet the Corporates event is informal and has proven to be effective: for numerous students, this first contact ends in an exciting job with a company that fosters talent. And this is exactly what happened to American student Aina Fuller.

  7. Vlerick student team wins CleanTech Challenge Belgium 2012-2013

    A team of five Masters in General Management students has won the Belgian finals of the CleanTech Challenge, a student competition on how to build a better future through environmentally-friendly technology. Michael Clockaerts, Thomas Lettens, Philippe Van Gestel, Bram Nelissen and Bart Embrechts presented their EDAS idea for an Eco Drive Assist System allowing drivers to change their driving style in order to consume the least amount of fuel possible. They will now be representing Belgium during the bootcamp finals in London on 25 and 26 April.

  8. Vlerick students win third prize in largest sales competition in the US

    Our Masters in Marketing Management student team of Rebecca Van Den Houte and Thomas Rotsaert have placed third in the Negotiation Round of the National Collegiate Sales Competition in the US. It’s the second year in a row that Vlerick students do very well in the largest and oldest sales role-play competition in existence. This year 67 universities participated in total. Last year’s winners were Wim Wauters and Jamie O’Gorman.

    Two mixed teams of MBA and Masters students at Vlerick Business School have advanced to the regional finals of the 4th Annual Hult Prize, going head-to-head with other global top-tier schools. The Hult Prize is the world’s largest student competition and crowdsourcing platform for social good, recently named one of the top five ideas changing the world by Bill Clinton and TIME Magazine. In partnership with the Clinton Global Initiative, the innovative crowdsourcing platform identifies and launches disruptive and catalytic social ventures that aim to solve the planet’s most pressing challenges.

  10. Successful third edition of the Vlerick Sales Competition

    Recently the third edition of the Vlerick Sales Competition took place at our Ghent campus. In total 16 Masters students participated in sales role plays that were judged by 25 sales executives from 9 sponsoring companies. The companies are not only involved as judges but also as buyers, participating actively in the role plays together with the students. The competition aims to stimulate a real life sales experience and teach the students how to successfully overcome potential challenges and close the sale. The competition is open to all Masters students who can participate on a voluntary basis.
