Within the centre, Vlerick and a variety of partners from the business world do research into performance management, the role of management and the motivational business climate.
    More specifically Attentia and Vlerick are going to work together on engagement.

    Last night Vlerick Business School and the Great Place to Work® Institute Belgium announced the Best Workplaces 2013 in Belgium during an Award Show. Compared to 2012, we’ve noted some remarkable shifts. The winner in the category ‘companies with LESS than 500 employees’ is AE, a company from Louvain that helps businesses streamline their activities and IT operations better. The category ‘companies with MORE than 500 employees’ is headed by McDonald’s Belgium, which, compared to last year, has made a major leap forward, jumping from fourth place to first place.

    Vlerick researcher Karen De Visch’s thesis on ‘The significance of hidden feelings – validation of the IPANAT in two samples’ received an honourable mention at the annual ADMB Awards Ceremony. The study was also chosen as the ‘best non-Dutch-language thesis’. With this award ADMB wants to highlight the importance of a solid partnership between HR experts, the academic world and businesses.

    Sarah De Hauw, Doctoral Research Associate at Vlerick Business School, has been awarded a Best Reviewer Award within the Careers Division of the Academy of Management (AOM) at the 2012 annual meeting in Boston (US). Each year the Division rewards individuals who provide especially high-quality reviews of submissions made to the annual meeting.

    Vlerick Business School wishes to congratulate Nele Soens who recently successfully completed her doctoral dissertation defence. She obtained her degree of Doctor in Applied Economics from the University of Ghent. This is a fantastic accomplishment in recognition of years of hard and dedicated work.

  6. Final year students enthusiastic about job prospects

    Compared to previous years, final-year students are more optimistic about their job prospects. As a result, more young people choose to actually go to work instead of further study. Moreover, they prepare themselves better for it. The non-profit sector is gaining popularity and there is an increase in the use of social networking sites when looking for work. A career with a green dimension is not a priority for them. These are the main findings of a trend study into the career prospects of final-year students.

    Yesterday Great Place to Work® announced the list of 100 companies which are considered the best workplaces in Europe by their employees during a gala ceremony in Berlin. Over 250,000 employees in some 1,500 European companies participated in the survey. The HRM Centre of Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School is the Belgian partner of Great Place to Work®.

    ‘Managing for Performance Excellence’, a recently published book (in English) by the Vlerick professors Regine Slagmulder, Kurt Verweire and Koen Dewettinck, has recently also been made available as a multimedia-enhanced eBook for the iPad in Apple's iBookstore. This digital edition was specially produced for the iBooks app on the iPad and uses the very latest Apple technology for multimedia eBooks.
