Fierce Stories is a series of intimate fireside chats with LGBTQ+ professionals and allies who are changing the world. In our latest edition, we’re delighted to welcome Petra De Sutter – gynaecologist, politician and Europe’s first openly trans minister. She’s also recently been elected Rector of Ghent University. Our community is made up of inspiring achievers who are shaping society and creating positive impact. Come and celebrate it with us.

Petra De Sutter is a Belgian gynaecologist, academic and politician. She built her career at Ghent University, where she became Head of its Fertility Clinic. She went on to serve as a Senator, Member of the European Parliament and Deputy Prime Minister of Belgium. This year she was elected Rector of Ghent University.
She made history as Europe’s first openly transgender minister – and is a passionate advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights, ethics in science and social justice.
Professor Marion Debruyne, Dean of Vlerick, will moderate the conversation for this special edition.
