André Roux

Visiting Professor of Economics

André Roux heads up the Futures Studies programmes at the University of Stellenbosch Business School. He was previously Director of the university’s Institute for Futures Research (IFR), where he ran workshops for leaders and strategists across business and government.

His areas of expertise include business and labour economics and his research focuses on globalisation and socio-economic development in Africa. He lectures on economics and futures thinking at the University of Stellenbosch and on various executive education programmes in South Africa – as well as in Australia, Namibia, Swaziland, Tanzania, Ghana and Nigeria. He’s also a member of the management committee of the Bureau for Economic Research.

André has written over 130 popular publications, one book and several book chapters – and he’s been published in various academic journals. A popular presenter and speaker, André won the Best Lecturer Award in Stellenbosch University’s Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences in 2016.

As a Visiting Professor at Vlerick, André teaches economics on a number of our Masters programmes.
