Bjarne Brié

Doctoral Researcher, Accounting & Finance

Conducts highly relevant research into climate reporting and corporate sustainability

Bjarne Brié is a doctoral researcher in the field of accounting and finance. His work relates to corporate sustainability and non-financial reporting – and focuses on the use of textual analysis to analyse businesses’ climate disclosures in the context of the European Non-Financial Reporting Directive.

Bjarne aims to gain insight into the general state of climate reporting and the effectiveness of disclosures mandates. He also looks into how various stakeholders like financial analysts and competitors use climate-related information. The importance of climate change – and the heightened interest stakeholders have in transparent, comparable and credible sustainability information – makes his research highly relevant.

Bjarne actively contributes to Vlerick’s Centre for Financial Leadership and Digital Transformation, where he works closely with Professor Kristof Stouthuysen. He provides teaching support on several courses – including Accounting for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Introduction to Financial Accounting and Strategic Management Accounting. And he’s involved in the data science elective and bootcamp.
