Combining vast start-up experience and an entrepreneurial spirit to support new business owners at Vlerick
Daan De Wever has always been driven by his entrepreneurial spirit. He started his career as co-founder of Belgian Network Solutions (Benesol) and later joined civil engineering company Infranea – where he worked alongside the CEO to grow the company.
In 2008, Daan joined Destiny - a secure, low-cost cloud communication platform with technology that’s both scalable and flexible. At the time it was a small start-up – and Daan saw a real opportunity to use his experience in the information and services industry, as well as his skills in M&A, to manage and coach a young, dynamic team.
Now CEO, Daan has helped Destiny become a scale-up – and with a team of more than 750, it’s the fastest-growing B2B player in its market and the largest in Europe. The company has 20,000 direct customers, 1,500 channel partners, more than 2 million cloud users – and revenue of €190 million.
In 2019, Daan was awarded ICT Personality of the Year – a prize he owes to his entrepreneurial spirt. Today, he draws on that spirit in his role as an Entrepreneur in Residence at the Vlerick Entrepreneurship Academy.
