Karishma Balu

Doctoral Researcher, Accounting & Finance

Karishma Balu is a doctoral researcher at Vlerick. She’s involved in accounting and finance research alongside her supervisor, Professor David Veredas. Her current work focuses on financing and monitoring the value of coastal and marine nature-based solutions – with a particular emphasis on the Belgian coast. This project is financed by VLAIO and is a collaboration with UGent, Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ) and the Institute for Agricultural, Fisheries and Food Research (ILVO).

Before she joined Vlerick, Karishma was a predoctoral researcher at the University of Oslo, where she studied Integrated Assessment Models and other climate change-related topics.
