Vlerick’s Masters in Financial Management programme has substantially improved its position in this year’s Financial Times Masters in Finance Ranking. Globally, we went up 10 places and the programme now holds the 25th position in the world. On a European level, we are ranked 22, moving up 7 places compared to last year. We are the only Belgian school listed in the table. Our CFA-accredited programme provides an excellent broad and in-depth corporate finance education, complemented with relevant managerial skills. Currently, the programme has 45 students representing 14 different nationalities.

  • Ranked 1 in Belgium
  • Ranked 22 in Europe – up 7 places
  • Ranked 25 worldwide – up 10 places

According to Professor Wouter De Maeseneire, Programme Director of our Masters in Financial Management, this result is a great achievement: “We are very satisfied to see we could confirm our position amongst the top finance programmes, which is reflective of the programme’s added value and our relentless efforts to further optimise it and keep it up to date with new trends emerging in the world of business and finance. We are particularly pleased with the very high satisfaction of our alumni with their overall programme experience, rating us amongst the best in the world with 9.4 out of 10.”

Our performance is driven by the outstanding career services we provide to our students, for which we rank 10th in the world. This also spills over to our local and international students securing excellent jobs within Belgium as well as internationally. The latter is reflected in our excellent score on international mobility, which measures the changes in the country of employment of our alumni. For this criterion, we have gone up 10 places and now rank 18th in the world.

Wendy Lisarde, Career Advisor: “This clearly shows that the career paths of our Masters in Financial Management alumni are becoming increasingly international. Our finance alumni secure jobs in major financial cities like London and Amsterdam, while also expanding their horizons to other key hubs such as Frankfurt and Luxembourg. The successful careers of our graduates are equally reflected in their salaries which show a 73% increase between graduation and three years later.”

Another explanation for our performance is the exceptionally strong scores for ‘value for money’ (15th), and for ‘international course experience’ (17th). On top of the finance trips to London and Amsterdam, students can opt for an extended international experience by doing their in-company consultancy internship abroad or going on an exchange to one of our partner schools including EDHEC in France, Stockholm School of Economics in Sweden, Frankfurt School of Finance and Management in Germany or NOVA in Portugal.
